Plainly, having the wrong office chair can and will cause pain for you. You will find that lower back pain can be one of the most painful experiences of pain that you can have. It is because of the way you sit that causes these problems to arise. And, since many of use spend hours at the office, it is just logical that eventually things would go wrong. Here, we will discuss just what happens when we choose the wrong office chair and give a few helpful hints in choosing the right one for your body. It is amazing to see and feel the difference in using the right chair for the job.
When you are sitting in what is called a static posture, you are putting quite a bit of pressure on your body without even realizing it. Sitting where you are right now, can you feel any areas of your body that are tense or strained? Are you comfortable? Is your back tight, you shoulders aching? If your hips or thighs hurt, this too is a sign of a problem. When we sit like this, we are putting pressures and stresses on our neck, shoulders, back, arms and legs, and worst of all, your spinal discs. Many people slouch at their desks. For those that do, they are even doing more damage because they are overstretching the spinal ligaments and straining the spinal discs. In time, if their situation is not made better, you can damage spinal structures and experience back pain. While all of this may not seem like a big deal (who can't deal with a little pain anyway?), it actually is a quite painful and worsening condition that can leave you unable to sit properly.
So, what do you do to correct these health problems? Office chairs that are properly designed to fit your body work wonders. When you choose the office chair you will spend hours everyday in, consider these areas. You'll need to insure proper elbow measures (a 90 degree angle to the desk), the proper thigh measure (you should be able to get your fingers under the leading edge of the thigh), calf measure (a fist sized room between your leg and the chair) and lower back support (a cushion that causes arch in the lower back). All of these elements make a chair right for your body. Some of the best office chairs are other that are called ergonomic in that they properly support many areas of your body including these.
