Cable Management - also know as cable tidy
Basically cable management is a means of keeping all wires and cables in one place and tidy. This usually comprises of cable holes in the desktop leading to either horizontal cable ducts along the underside of the desk and or vertically down the inside of the office desk leg to the floor.
Panel End Desk Legs - also known as Slab End Legs
A Panel end desk leg is a wooden alternative to the metal cantilever desk leg (see below). Normally 18mm in thickness it is colour matched to the desktop - for some examples please click this link - PANEL END DESKS
Cantilever Desk Legs - also known as C shape legs
A Cantilever desk leg is made of metal and can be 'C' shaped or 'I' shaped and is the most popular leg style seen in offices. More stylish than the panel end leg cantilever legs are usually silver, grey or black, but many manufacturers are now introducing other colours.
Height Adjustable
Height Adjustable desking is used where wheelchair access is needed, more than one person is using the desk or when a sit / stand environment is needed.
Height Adjustable Desks are usually adjusted in 3 ways :
Manual - the height is set when assembling the desk by means of raising the legs and inserting support pins - Manual Height Adjustable Desks
Crank Handle - insert a handle into the desk frame and turn to reach the required height - Crank Height Adjustable Desks
Electronic - the most flexible and expensive option, where an electronic motor raises / lowers the desk the the required height. More expensive models also feature a memory function which can be used for multiple users - Electronic Height Adjustable Desks
Workstation Shapes
Rectangular Office Desk - the most basic and common usually 800mm deep with widths from 800 - 2000mm - Rectangular Desk examples
Corner Office Desk - also known as a Crescent or Radial desk. L shaped and often used to form blocks of desks - Corner Desk examples
Wave Office Desks - similar to the rectangular desks, Wave desks have a longer edge on the left or right of the user - Wave Desk examples
Left Hand / Right Hand Return - corner and wave desks have a 'return' side and this means the longer edge when you are sitting at the desk. In the case of the Corner desk this is the thinner part (bottom) of the L shape.
